ATD 2017 – Post-Conference Takeaways & Thoughts[:in]ATD 2017 – Post Conference Takeaways & Thoughts
Now that the dust has settled from ATD 2017 International Conference and Expo, and everyone is back to business as usual, we’ve had time to process our highlights from this amazing event.
First off, ATD certainly delivers on its promise to “bring the talent development industry to life by gathering together the game changers.” It’s true that many of the key people and organizations shaping the industry were present and ready to engage in meaningful presentations and conversations about the direction of our space. It’s an exciting time in the industry to be at the forefront of how technology platforms not only support, but drive learning.
The Litmos team came back simultaneously energized and exhausted (if that’s possible), charged with ideas and inspiration, but physically beat from attending tons of info-packed sessions, networking, and working our very busy booth, where attendees had a chance to win a Tesla Model X with our Learning Automation Giveaway Machine. We gave countless product demos, showcasing our award-winning Learning Automation platform, and handed out more than 100 prizes from Amazon Echo Dots to Fitbits and Amazon Gift Cards. Hopefully, if you received one of the free passes to our upcoming customer conference — Litmos C3 — we’ll see you in Vegas in September.
Another huge highlight was our session on “The Brain-Friendly Checklist” with Litmos CLO, Mike Martin. Mike discussed how to build more effective checklists that align with how the human brain works, so that you and your learners can get more done, more efficiently. The session incited lots of collaboration with teams working together to talk about what they consider brain-friendly environments and what training teams can do to make sure they develop these types of environments.
Networking Night, sponsored by Litmos, was held at the Georgia Aquarium and had 3,000 people in attendance! The entire aquarium was open for exploration and we all took advantage of the opportunity to see the world-class exhibits.
Before the event started, Litmos hosted our own VIP Happy Hour in the Tropical Diver exhibit with some exclusive Litmos customers and prospects. This too was a blast and a fantastic opportunity to hear the perspectives and insights of these learning leaders, which leads me to my closing thought.
There was an Elliott Masie quote from the show that not only trended on Twitter but also continues to ring in the minds of the Litmos team: “Learning has changed because the learner has changed.” We couldn’t agree more and promise to continue to deliver technology solutions that support the needs, expectations, and preferences of today’s modern, mobile learners.
