Celebrate Earth Day 2023 with Learning That Loves the Planet
Today and all month long, we’re honoring Earth Day. This tradition began on April 22, 1970, when 20 million Americans gathered in unified protests across the country to demand a new, sustainable approach to how we interact with the natural world. This first event sparked what is now the environmental movement and remains to this day the planet’s largest civic event.
This year, the Earth Day theme to rally participants is Invest in Our Planet. And there are new things to learn about how we can participate. Please see these official tips from Earthday.org and see this infographic from Litmos on why eLearning is essential to our environmental efforts.
How to Act on Climate Change?
It can seem overwhelming to think about an entire planet – our planet! As climate change exists as the biggest challenge to the future of humanity, we’re also facing numerous other global concerns. So where do you start and how can you stay positive and make the most of where we find ourselves.
In addition to the tips above, remember that technology connects and empowers us more than ever before!
During the pandemic a few years ago, companies discovered that many employees actually prefer online training and appreciate the conveniences that it affords. Companies also started crunching numbers on how much money and productivity time they can save with eLearning versus traditional training, which usually implies offsite (i.e., requiring travel and associated expenses).
eLearning: Training that Sustains the Environment
Even now in 2023, the world may never return to what we formerly perceived as pre-pandemic “normal.” Organizations and individuals have and will need to continue to adapt to new ways of doing things, but not for the worst. We’ve found new ways to do business and “do life,” but given that much of that is now digital, it also happens to be more environmentally friendly.
In other words, there’s never been a better time for eLearning. On Earth Day and beyond, you can make a positive contribution to the planet by leveraging online learning to eliminate unnecessary travel, reduce carbon emissions, and lessen usage of physical resources like plastic, paper, and ink.
We’ve created an infographic to show some of the ways that eLearning is one simple way that companies can help support the planet – as it continues to support us with its magnificent beauty and power.
Happy Earth Day to you!
